Nature and Scope

Filament Games is seeking a talented IT Specialist to help us deliver technology solutions that solve challenging learning problems for our customers. Filament has a number of internal technology drivers that make it an exciting place to do IT:

  • Our developers target a wide array of platforms and technologies, so IT must be able to quickly adopt new types of hardware and software into the organization quickly.
  • We have a diverse set of both home-grown and off-the-shelf hardware and software solutions to build and test our games. The complexity of these systems has and will continue to grow over time.

This position reports the IT Manager and has no direct reports. As the company grows this may change. Ideal candidates will have the ability to grow with the opportunity.

Authority, Responsibility, & Relationships


  • Enforce IT policies


  • Perform routine maintenance on all hardware including servers, networking equipment, workstations, and mobile devices
  • Configure new hardware and software
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues as they arise
  • Maintain user accounts
  • Occasional travel to set up equipment for presentations


  • Reports to: IT Manager
  • Direct Reports: None currently
  • Coordinates Activity with: All Staff

Measures of Success

  • Problem reports are routinely investigated within 1 business day
  • Changes are made with diligence and care
  • Changes rarely result in unplanned downtime



  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 year experience troubleshooting server or workstation hardware

Required Skills

  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Strong knowledge of fundamental networking concepts
  • Ability to climb around and under a desk or server rack to install computer/network/monitor cables, etc.
  • Familiar with Linux
  • Proficient with Windows 7
  • Proficient with Mac OSX

  • Self-directed
  • Detail oriented

Desired Skills

  • Passion for learning and learning games
  • Familiarity with IP telephony
