Not sure if this is the right channel, I'm wondering where I could seek funding for developing games to raise awareness for human/women's rights issues. UN-Women? APC?

o_O So it seems, it's either crowdsourcing for funds or taking a loan.

Yep -- although you might be able to partner with either a university research project or be sponsored by a social change organization: Ms, MissRepresentation, NOW, others...  I'd put a pitch together or do some research online to see if there are opportunities -- if you don't see something obvious, then get a high level contact and pitch to them over the phone -- solve a problem for them so that helping you is a win for them in visibility or action or something.

All that said, crowd funding might be the way to go -- with crowd funding you'll need to develop an audience of people who care about what you're doing to get your initial funding in the first few days -- that's a critical success factor in campaigns.

Good luck!
