We are launching a game curriculum development group.  Our group will be designing game camps, labs and workshops to provide services in Oregon and Washington for K-12 youths.  Our focus is on maker based learning in art, design and programming through game development.

We are looking for foundations, schools and organizations that will share resources.  While we know of many platforms like Scratch, Gamemaker and Minecraft EDU, we also need ways to translate this into edible, teachable bites that our mentors can pick up and run with.

If you know of any clearing houses or people to contact, please let us know.  Much thanks!

Hi Jeffrey, you're in the same path as Cynthia Jabar, who is creating a maker-based print, pixel imprint for stories/games for kids: http://www.transmediakids.com/ transmedia kids is a piece of it, but do check out her other pages. She's collaborated with educators to build an app. Her background is art/graphic design primarily and her mission is to "conquer the digital divide."

Thanks Lorraine, I'll add this to our outreach and also re-post resources we find.

Hi Jeffrey,

i'm a high school student from canada, and this year, i'm the vice-president of the junior computer science club. i really like the idea and was also thinking of doing something game development related in the club. i am not entirely sure how i can help you out, but i would love to pitch in to this anyway i can.

What part of Canada? We also host game jams in Portland, and we are expanding our regional efforts.

I'd love to see how you could be involved too.  We have a google group, PixelArtsPDX, and if you join that, I can update you on our meetings.  We'll have teleconference for those who can't meet face to face.

I'm in Toronto actually so...southern Ontario?

that sounds good! um...how do i join? i couldn't find it when i did a google search.
