- My categories for “Games I’m known for/want to be” reflect a little experience but mainly focus on the kinds of engagement and outcomes I aim to achieve: For at least a decade as a professional journalist, I’ve been seeking a way to combine games with news/journalism. I believe that game designers are experts in creating interactive narratives and audience engagement, both of which are increasingly needed in journalism.
I believe that it’s possible to bring a gaming mechanism to delivering news in a substantive, meaningful way — not just as a pastime, although I’ve yet to prove this. I’m interested in working with any experienced game professionals who can help to develop this concept or model.

- Countdown to Crisis, Economics of Staying in School, 2020 Media Futures, Mark of the Beast
Countdown was an unreleased social sciences, puzzle-solving, urban exploration text adventure. [Concept, design, narrative, coding.]
Economics of Staying in School was/is a simulation to help high school students gain an understanding of the benefits of education, implemented by Junior Achievement of Canada. [Concept, feasibility assessment, proposal. It was originally conceived as a real-world venture/incubator for high school, university and college students. Based on the feasibility study, it was scaled back to a business simulation.]
2020 Media Futures is an ongoing strategic foresight project focused on media. [Scenario building, forecasting.]
Mark of the Beast is a mobile data literacy game that uses smarthone sensors, social and geolocative check-ins to gather quantified-self style data, upon which players perform in-game data handling and manipulation tasks, learning important skills for journalism as they play. [Concept, currently in design phase.]
