Anything else you want to say about the kinds of projects or people or organizations you’d like to work with?
I'd like to work with people who are passionate about telling great stories while also designing incredible gameplay experiences. I'd like to pursue projects that bring gameful mindsets to communities of poverty and assist with aiding in the effectiveness of a SuperBetter lifestyle through community building and education.
Games you’ve worked on ...
None yet, apart from my own creations. A queer themed visual novel survival game called Bear Country (I have some characters and system things figured out, but the practical application of my ideas has yet to be found.) A self-described creative comedy/RPG called Title Colon Subtitle (The game I promised I would make with a friend of mine, but we need help.) Numerous basic frameworks for tabletop games that never got off the ground.
What abilities would you bring to a collaboration?
I have a bachelors' in Creative Writing from Denison University and extensive experience playing and designing (non-video) games, as well as dreaming about making games from a young age. I am an educator and my game-design lens is one that emphasizes the abilities of games to create fun by creating streamlined learning experiences for players. I also love drawing and have always wanted to do character designs for a game.
Three games you’ve played that have changed your life:
The World Ends With You helped me learn that the content of videogame stories could help me reimagine my private adolescent struggles as something universal, but far from unsolvable.
Golden Sun was one of the first games that I beat with very little help from anyone else. I didn't let any of the game's challenges deter me. I pushed through to the end of the game and proved to myself that I was capable of great things.
Dance Dance Revolution SuperNova gave me the tools to become closer to a friend of mine as well as lose weight and feel better about my body in a healthy way. And it had a bomb-ass soundtrack.
